We’re so excited to share 2 new Arts Award projects which will run over the summer holidays, for the first time!
If you're new to Arts Award, it's a range of unique qualifications that supports anyone aged up to age 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through taking challenges in an art form - from fashion to digital art, pottery to poetry. You can find out more about it over on their website! We run Bronze and Silver Arts Award with our Young Makers and Young Producers and we're excited to recruit two new groups of budding artists!
Arts Award: Discover & Explore
Discover & Explore is for 8 - 11 year olds and takes place on Tuesday 25th July, Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th July from 10am - 3pm. In the sessions, children will investigate the art around them, research an artist, share their journey with others and engage in a range of art activities with professional artists. Participants must attend all three session to give them enough time to achieve their award!
Find out more about the sessions here.
Arts Award: Bronze Summer Camp
Arts Award: Bronze Summer Camp is a six week long project for young people aged 11-17 who have additional needs and are interested in developing their creativity, taking part in artist-led projects, attending arts and cultural events and completing a Bronze Arts Award.
These sessions are targeted towards 11-17 year olds with additional needs who feel they would benefit from taking part in creative workshops in an accessible space. Although we make all of our events accessible and suitable for all with disabilities or neurodiversities, we wanted to run a project for those who may feel more comfortable taking part with others who share similar experiences.
The sessions will take place over the summer holidays on the following dates and we ask that participants attend all sessions to ensure they achieve their award!
Friday 28th July - 11am-1pm
Friday 4th August - 11am-1pm
Friday 11th August - 11am-1pm
Friday 18th August - 11am-3pm
Friday 25th August - 11am-1pm
Friday 1st September - 11am-3pm
Find out more about the sessions here.
All sessions are drop-offs which gives young people the chance to engage with others that they may not interact with at school and the parents a break during the summer holidays!
The sessions are not free to attend but we only ask for a donation of £10 towards the cost of running the programmes. If you are in financial difficulty, please let us know and we can offer free or subsidised tickets so your child can still attend! If you'd like to enquire about this or ask us any questions, our inbox is always open! Email hello@everydaywigan.org.uk and we'll get back to you.
